The Xantus pipetting arm has been equipped with higher flow rate pumps and extended tubing to achieve one step 50 ml aspirate/dispense per channel.

The standard pump/tubing/tip configuration of the Xantus robotic liquid handling platform is designed to pipette volumes from 1 ul up to 2 ml. However, with an alternative pump/tubing/tip configuration, Xantus can pipette up to 50 ml in a single aspirate / dispense step.

Altogether, Sias offers a choice of 3 different pump options – all mounted either in or on the back of the robotic pipetting arm. The model SX3 is the “standard” pump, for pipetting 1 ul up to 2 ml. The SX12 pump enables a flow rate of up to 2 ml/sec and the model SX48 up to 5 ml sec.

50 ml pipetting capability is achieved using the SX12 or SX48 pump, depending on the required flow rate, with an extended length of tubing and wider bore tips, if required.
Xantus is available in deck widths of 1, 1.5 and 2m. The concentration of functionality, including pumps, in the arm means that the deck and the rest of robot is open and accessible and provides ample space for the larger containers needed for the process.

The high volume Xantus option has been applied to the testing of milk samples and waste water.
